Public Tasting Zone

Accepts wines with a market retail price of RMB 100 or below (inclusive). Entries are grouped by country of origin, color (red/white/rose), sparkling/non-sparkling classification, and sweetness style (dry/off-dry/sweet). The judging panel comprises wine industry influencers, restaurateurs, and passionate enthusiasts who determine the "People's Choice Award" through intuitive sensory evaluation, reflecting everyday consumer preferences.
Note: Wines in this category may also opt to participate in the Expert Judging Zone for additional evaluation.

Expert Tasting Zone

SIWC evaluation process is rigorous and benchmarked against internationally renowned competition standards to ensure the fairness and authoritativeness of the results. The judging panel employs a blind tasting method, concealing all brand and winery information of the competing wines. Evaluations are conducted solely based on sensory dimensions including aroma, color, and palate characteristics, through which the final award outcomes are determined.

How the Challenge Works

  1. The wine must be made 100% from grapes grown in the country as the front label.
  2. The wine must be completely brewed and bottled. Packed with sealed package.
  3. Wines are photographed for our directory book, Apps, website and weibo at this stage. After photographing they will be organized by style then country in temperature controlled storage.
  4. Wines are picked from the warehouse put into blind tasting bags and tagged with their unique identifier to keep their true identity concealed. Then the wines are waiting for judging.
  5. We adopt the classic 100-point scale used by most wine industry publications, and the standard is as follow: Platinum Award: score≥90 points, Gold Award: 87≤score<90 points, Silver Award: 83≤score<87 points, The best trophy winner will be selected in those gets the highest core.
  6. If two or more board member decide a wine does not deserve a medal, the wine is eliminated.
  7. The chairman has the right to make the final decision if there is any divergence in the judge panel.
